Winter Flavors Hit Victoria's Farmers Market #yyjevents

The Victoria Winter Farmers’ Market is about celebrating and sharing all that’s great in local food. Our market this Saturday will be full of the normal goodies as well as some extra festive treats. In addition, we have local artisan craft vendors joining us in celebrating this joyful season. Just a reminder that we have wonderful organic hormone-free meat suppliers from various farms with freezers colder than the North Pole. So bring a chill pack and take this ultimate fresh-to-you meat home to your holiday hearth. This is one of the best places to get hold of fresh and tasty Vancouver Island delicacies necessary for your Christmas table.

@HDCanada returns to @LuckyBar to shake up awareness of #Movember @PlayInVictoria @VillageNowNet

It has been two months since the end of Handsome Distraction’s cross Canadian tour and they are back at it again. Last night, Handsome Distraction brought their best to Lucky Bar in Victoria, in support of Movember. Handsome Distraction’s Moustache Party featured unique Victoria based bands like Citizen Joy and Warbuck. Lucky bar also saw the talent of the Zone 91.3’s DJ, Jeremy Baker spinning the night away.

  The Moustache Party offered up more than an awareness in men’s health. There were stick on moustaches, buttons, t-shirts and a raffle by donation to raise money for cancer research.

Devin Perfect, Lead Vocals and Guitar has close ties to the Movember Movement, after his Father fought and overcame prostate cancer. “He was one of those people who did the right thing, kept checking himself; thankfully they caught it early and were able to cure it.” That is why the Moustache party was an important celebration for Perfect. “[I think] it’s really important that people know what  prostate cancer is all about. Your health is extremely important; you’ve got to keep checking on it.”

Fans loved the fact they could get their hands on Handsome Distraction swag all while supporting the Movember movement. But, the hottest commodity would have to be that prize pack from Empire Tattoo and two tickets to see Muse LIVE in Vancouver.

The crowd at Lucky bar was ecstatic once Handsome Distraction came onto the stage, as it was the performance they had been waiting for all night. True to form, HD did deliver – playing all the songs from their recently released EP, Flight or Fight.  Also in the mix were a few new songs, one developing as my favorite called “Promises”.

There was a better turn out last night, compared to their kick-off party in late July. I expect big things in the future from Handsome Distraction. Not so subtle hints were dropped in my interview with them just last week, a new EP is coming. Stay tuned for that.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to check out Handsome Distraction Live, then seriously consider checking out their webpage, www.handsomedistraction.com or tweet to this social media savy band @HDCanada on Twitter.
